Phil Knight, the business leader.

There are many people who have done plenty of things in life, but the one person I admire the most in the business world is Phil Knight. He is an American Billionaire also the co-founder and chairman of Nike, Inc. (http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nike/en_CA/) He was born February 24th, 1038 in Portland, Oregon. He attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, for journalism. After serving in the Army he enrolled at Stanford Graduate School of Business where he graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in 1962.

After graduation, he traveled the world. In Kobe, Japan he discovered “Tiger” brand running shoes. He was impressed with the quality and low cost that Knight made met up with Mr. Onitsuka who ran the Company. At the end of the meeting he has secured distribution rights for United States for “Tiger” running shoes.

When Knight received the shoe samples, he sent some to Bill Bowermand in the hopes of getting a sale and endorsement. Not only did Bowerman order the shoes, he made an offer to become a partner to Knight and prove some designs for better running shoes. Their partnership agreement was the birth of Blue Ribbon Sports, forerunner to Nike.

Everything with the business went well and is still going well to this day. Knight has resigned as the company’s CEO in November of 2004. Nike makes billions of dollars yearly. In 2007, Knight’s 35% stake in the business gave him an estimated net worth of U.S$9.8 billion dollars, which makes him the 30th richest American.

He made a lot of accomplishments, and one day I wish to be a billionaire, they may just be dreams and wishes but if I believe enough maybe it will happen. I may not get a great product like Nike but you never know.
